Save Money on Gas With the Gas Rewards Visa Card
It suddenly occurred to me after reading an online article about gas credit cards. Back in the 1990’s gas prices were through the roof. At that time gas credit cards were just being introduced and the dreaming of high gas consumption was just about to be a reality.
As a matter of fact, gas prices as we know them today began to exist back in the late 1970’s. Gas prices were through the roof compared to the early 1980’s and even the late 1970’s! And the gas that we buy today is not that different from the gas in the 1970’s! So how did the so-called experts at the time predict that the current gas prices that we have now would hit the roof? And ruin all the efforts at trying to reduce the price of gas? They did not! That we can easily prove by the fact that the IRS recently reported a 10% increase in gas prices during the first quarter of this year compared to the first three months of the previous year!
So, with the gas prices we buy today being twice as expensive compared to the prices in the 1970’s, how can we reduce our expenses when we purchase gas? The answer is gas reward system cards!
Just like other cards, gas reward cards work in a similar way. One can earn points on purchases of gasoline and redeem these points for gas rewards. Just like other rewards cards, these gas reward cards can be used at many gas stations of your choice. Although the point scheme varies from one company to another, the typical gas reward points are 1 point for each gallon of gas you purchase. These points can then be redeemed for the gas you credit one month as well. Some of the companies that issue these cards are very generous when it comes to the gas rewards they give you. Usually, they give you 1000 or even 10,000 points for the first purchase you make with your card! But the catch is that you have to use your reward points in the same way that they were originally issued. Otherwise, you will lose the points. Or in other words, these cards work only at certain stations that are within your network of gas card company stations.
Gas reward cards are now widely used among businessmen and families because they are very convenient and can be used where and when they need their gas. But if you are a power user, and you intend to use your card only at the cash & carry businesses, then, of course, you can get these cards. Most gas reward cards are available at major gas suppliers and station depots across the country. The name of the gasoline card varies for each company to their partner in keeping with the terms and conditions of the card.
The gas reward cards differ when it comes to the types of rewards they offer. Some offer you a point for each gallon of gas you purchase. This amount can then be redeemed for free gas. Others offer you rewards in the form of free gas-only, as long as you spend a minimum amount of money with their card. This amount depends on the company issuing the card and the amount of credit limit they give you.
There are many gas reward cards in the market today, so it is important to make sure that whichever card you may wish to get is right for you. Compare the cards with a lot of offers and take notes and always read the fine print that comes with each card. Check also if the rewards can be turned into frequent flyer miles, which would be a great bonus!
